Hubs has been asking me for a little over a month now if I would make him Peanut Butter Chocolate bars. Apparently my MIL used to make them for him when he was little and he thought they were uber tasty.
Like, with most recipes, I surfed around the net and settled on a recipe. Usually I try to find a recipe with the least amount of ingredients, but enough that I'm not totally cheating and pie with pre-made crust and a can of pie filling (*cough*
Sandra Lee *cough*).
Peanut Butter Chocolate Barsadapted very slightly from this recipe on All RecipesIngredients2 1/2 cups graham cracker crumbs
1 cup reduced fat peanut margarine
1 cup margarine, melted
2 cups semisweet chocolate chips
2 3/4 cups confectioners' sugar
Directions
1 - In a medium bowl, stir together graham cracker crumbs, confectioners' sugar, peanut butter and melted margarine.
2 - Press firmly into the bottom of a 9x13 inch pan.
3 - Melt chocolate chips over a double boiler or in the microwave, stirring occasionally. (This is were I failed miserably, I burned the chocolate chips. What I learned? DO NOT MICROWAVE THE CHOCOLATE CHIPS! Also, after you burn the chocolate chips don't still use them, my bars have a smoky s'mores taste now).
4 - Spread melted chocolate over the crumb crust.
5 - Chill for about 5 minutes, then cut into bars before the chocolate is completely set, then chill until ready to serve.

My burnt chocolate didn't spread very well so I didn't get the pretty smooth chocolate look = FAIL!
