Easy Peasy: S.O.S. Dessert

Happy Valentine’s Day everyone! Sadly, I have class tonight so Hubs & I won’t be doing much for Valentine’s Day this year. (I can’t wait to graduate). However, I did whip him up a one of our new favorite desserts last night while we were hanging out on the sofa last night. My Bestie, Felicia, made this for her husband’s birthday a few weeks ago and we’ve been making them at home for the last couple weeks. It’s really easy and might be a fun thing to surprise your honey with tonight… you know, if you don’t already have Valentine’s dessert plans.

Basically it’s a cookie with ice cream on top, but here’s how to make it…

I hope you all have a Happy Valentine’s Day!

I Want, I Need, I Have to Have: Polka Dots Continued

The polka clothes got such a great response yesterday, I thought I share with you a few of my favorite polka dot home goods.

First, my favorite flatware by Kate Spade, from the Larabee Dot collection.

KateSpadeDot

I was SO excited when the Hubs agreed to have polka dot flatware! I really wanted a polka dot themed wedding, but he thought it was too girlie. I thought for sure he’d think this flatware was too girlie, but he was totally on board. YAY!

Unfortunately, he wasn’t as on board with the matching china :(

KateSpadeDotPlates
But, I’m hoping to get the accent plates sometime in the near future.

They will be mine, Oh yes, they will be mine. Okay, on to some other things.

There’s a shower curtain too!

2010 Recapped

I was MIA around the holidays. I kinda stopped posting all the Reverb10 prompts, only doing the ones that really spoke to me and wouldn't repeat something I’d already talked about. I haven’t posted the gluten free dessert I made for Christmas Eve yet… etc. I’ve decided to do a recap post for 2010 a little later than most. Let’s be honest though, it’s only the 3th, so I’m not that behind.

I really liked the way KJPugs did her 2010 review, so I’ve decided to copy her. Don’t worry, I asked… although, I didn’t really wait for her to respond and say it’s cool. Anyway, here we go…

January we upgraded our TV stand and general appearance of our  living room.  BA

February
I discovered two of my favorite “go to” recipes: Dark Chocolate Red Wine Cupcakes with Mascarpone Icing & Enchilada Casserole.feb
March Hubs and I went to Vegas for meet-up with the Bees and celebrate my bestie from college’s 30th Birthday. Of course, a trip to Vegas would not be complete without eating at Battista's Hole in the Wall.

April Joy from How Joyful redesigned my blog and created those adorable little birdies.

May I started making recipe cards for my recipe posts. The first two I made were for the salad I recreated from a local French restaurant & Margarita Cupcakes.

June I made several desserts using fruit from our local CSA, my favorite was the fruit pizza I invented with the help of Amy from Dandelion Paperweight.

July I turned 30 and made a kick-ass flag cake!

August Hubs and I celebrated our one year Anniversary and played travel roulette with some friends and ended up in Austin, TX.

September was a pretty busy month: I hosted a Giveaway from one of my favorite artists, I discovered  my local food truck meet-up and I took an allergy test and discovered I cannot eat gluten,

OhanaNidhi
October I did my first guest post and rattled on about the wonder that is Jazzercise.

November I blogged every single day… errr, posted every single day. Let’s be honest sometime we blog more than once a day but schedule those posts out. I also discovered Chipotle,

ChipTweet
tried Gluten Free Bisquick,

GF Bisquick
hosted a beautiful necklace giveaway from Honey My Heart

and finally finished my wedding recaps.

And lastly, in December, I attempted Reverb10, made Potato Latkes and guest posted for Forty Twenty Four about my on-the-cheap/modern Christmas table setting.

Happy New Year everyone! I hope I have even more to recap for you at the end of 2011 :)

Guest Post: Forty Twenty Four

This past Friday, as Hubs and I were driving out to Utah to visit his Mom and Step Dad, I guest posted for Micah and Catherine over at Forty Twenty Four.

4024
I met Catherine on Weddingbee, she is the beautiful Mrs Joey. She and Micah, Mr Joey, were also married in August of 2009. She and her husband blog over on Forty Twenty Four, about the house they built together and living together and such. Unfortunately, their house was broken into over the weekend and several things were taken along with a set of their keys. Please keep Catherine & Micah in your thoughts and prayers.

While you’re over there please also check out my Guest Post on Hubs and my Holiday Dinner Party.

Reverb10: Prompt 14 - Appreciate

Prompt14

ThisGuy2

This past year, marks the first year of my marriage to this guy. Yes, I appreciated him before we got married, but I appreciated him so much more after living with him for the past year. Hubs is my biggest cheerleader. He picks me up when I’m down, and not to sound to cliche, but he totally make me want to be a better person.

Don’t worry, I tell him all the time and bake him cookies :)

Reverb10: Prompt 6 - Make

Prompt6

I make all kinds of food all the time… well, not all the time, when I’m in school, but often. In school I also get to make boards and floor plans. I’m lucky in that get to “make” a couple times a week.

So, what is something I want to make? Something I need to clear time for? Art. The space above our sofa has been empty for over a year now. Hubs and I just can’t find (and agree) on something to hang above the sofa. It’s either the wrong color, shape or price.
 sofa2
We’ve known for awhile that we want 3 similar pieces spaced evenly apart. We know it can’t be too busy or dark because this room is really poorly lit. We also know we’re going to have to make it ourselves… or at least that’s what we’ve discovered in our search for the perfect art. We need to take the time to get the canvas and other supplies and create these pieces.

* Don’t get me started on the vulture hanging out on-top of my grandmother’s china cabinet. He went up there one Halloween and the Hubs has refused to part with him since. He thinks it’s funny… I don’t :-P

Happy Thanksgiving

thanksgivingtext

I hope you’re all having a wonderful Thanksgiving and you remember to take time today to reflect on the things you are thankful for.

I’m thankful for my amazing husband, my wonderful family, my awesome sister (yes I know she counts as family, but deserves her own mention), and my incredible friends.

The Obligatory Christmas Card Post

I really wasn’t going to post about our Christmas cards… at least not until after we ordered them. We did the Wedding picture Christmas card last year so there isn’t a couple pictures I need you all to help me choose from. Hack, if I’m lucky I’ll find one good picture of Hubs and I to put on this years. We just didn’t take a lot of pictures this year. In 2011 I resolve to take more pictures with my husband!

Okay, so why the post now? Christiana at US Meets UK, tweeted this morning about a deal on EverSave - $20 for $50 worth of personalized eco-friendly cards from Paper Culture.

PaperCultureGreen
Paper Culture is a CarbonFree® Partner of Carbonfund.org. Their paper is FSC certified as 100% post consumer recycled paper and elemental chlorine free. Plus, all the envelopes and packaging made from recycled paper! Oh, and it that wasn't cool enough, they pant a tree in your honor with every order you place.

I love sending out picture Christmas cards but I feel guilty about all the paper and ink etc that goes into it. Now I can feel a little better about my cards and save a little money at the same time. They have a lot of great designs too! Here are a couple of my favorites…

1 - Poignant Poinsettia
PaperCulturePoints
2 - Reindeer Family

3 - O Christmas Tree

4 - Christmas Ornaments

5 - Holiday Ornament

The sale ends some time on Friday (if I can add correctly) so hurry over and snatch up this deal!

Frenchie Kisses: The End… of the night.

After the tosses we walked around and mingled with out guests as the night started to whine down.

BeccaMe

LindsMe

We also got a few final pictures in with our wedding party.

FinalPic2
Ohana, our photographers, set up these awesome shots with an old carriage, behind our reception area.

FinalPic1
I have to give them props for rallying our wedding party and getting them to stand still for these shots because, due to all the free wine, they were pretty drunk by the end of the night.

FinalPic3
In fact, I’m surprise I managed to stay serious in these photos because they had us cracking up.

We didn’t have a big exit at the end of the night, we’d already done our toss at the our ceremony.

toss
Mr Frenchie and I walked around and said good night to as many people as we could. Then we disappeared to the parking lot to meet the car our hotel sent over.

TakingOff
It was actually really fun sneaking away with my new husband. We still had a lot of the night left because our reception ended around 9:30. We went to our hotel room and drank champagne on the balcony of our room and talked about the day.

The End :)

You’re not rid of me yet though, I still have a few more post planned with the Bee Series.
