Five for Friday

Previous Fridays

1 - Even when I'm mad at you, you can make me smile
2 - You keep trying to talk me into scary movies, even though you know it isn't going to happen
3 - You got REALLY excited when I made you Sloppy Joes
4 - You tease me about how long it takes me to get ready for bed
5 - When in doubt you let me make the home decor decisions

I Want, I Need, I Have to Have: CakeSpy Art

Tell Hubs I want a CakeSpy Original for Christmas. But, not necessarily a Christmas CakeSpy Original.

I heart Cuppie so much I want one I can hang in our kitchen all year long. I really wish I had a specific corner of our kitchen to keep my Kitchen Aid Mixer, instead of our pantry, because I'd put one of these there too.

Remember our the Hubs' kitchen gnome? How perfect would this be next to his gnome?

I hinted to the Hubs last night that this would make a good Christmas present. He said, "Perhaps Baby, Perhaps." BAH! What does that mean? I am not good with suspense.

NaBloPoMo: Can I?

I don't want to jinx this but since I started with the whole NaBloPoMo business I haven't missed a day! Plus, I don't know if you've noticed but so far this month I haven't missed a day. I haven't wanted to say anything, just in case I failed the closer it got to Christmas, but I thought maybe if I told all of you I was going to try to keep this going, I would actually keep it going.

Thank you to Lisa at Written Bliss for encouraging me last week when I had jury duty and I final one day and didn't think I'd have time to blog.

I'd like to think I could continue this for a year... maybe it will be my New Years Resolution.

Do you think you could blog everyday for a year?

I Need Help: Christmas Presents

Christmas is FAST approaching! The Hubs realized last night that this weekend is our last weekend at home before Christmas. Next weekend we are traveling to St George to visit the Hubs' Mom and Step Dad, Bob and the weekend after that is AFTER CHRISTMAS!

I've already purchased 3 Christmas presents, yep only THREE! One if for a friend I'm having lunch with tomorrow, the other is for my sister (and just part of her gift) and the last one is for my Mom, but I got so excited I gave it to her on Thanksgiving.

I know what I'm getting my parents, and since I'm pretty sure they don't read my blog, I'll tell you what it is... Steak Knives! (Imagine I said that with Jazz Hands, it makes it more exciting).

My parents mentioned when they were over for dinner a month or so ago that their steak knives were REALLY old and I found an amazing deal on these.

Every other Christmas present I (we) need to buy I'm drawing a blank. I'VE GOT NOTHING PEOPLE!

Any ideas you have would be GREATLY appreciated, I need gifts for...
SIL and her boyfriend - Just moved in together, love traveling and wine.
MIL and Step FIL - Live in St George, UT, retired and just bought an RV.
FIL and Step MIL - Retiring first of next year, live in San Diego and will be starting to cook at home more, but would probably frown on a Cooking Light Subscription.
My sister - Reading, jewelry and clothes.

Those are the critical people, everyone else who gets something is just gravy and I thinking I'll make cookies for them. The funds are low, as I'm sure most of you can relate.

Thank for your help in advance!

Around our Nest: The Ghetto

I would like to start out by pointing out that at least our TV isn't sitting on cinder blocks, a wire spool or a Radio Flyer.
On black Friday the Hubs and I purchased a new TV. We don't have cable and up until about a week before we bought the new TV, the old one wasn't even plugged in. It's not that we didn't (or don't) watch TV at all, we just watched it on our laptops. Anyway we got tired of staring at a screen propped on our coffee table to we took the plunge and bought a flat screen TV.

The "TV Area" is still the.most.ghetto. part of our apartment but at least we can watch DVDs and streaming TV from our Laptops on a bigger screen with better sound.

Now for the embarrassing pictures, aren't you excited?

Before...

After...
The next, obvious thing to purchase would be a TV console. Then perhaps a new, more advanced, DVD player.
