Reverb10: Prompt 6 - Make

Prompt6

I make all kinds of food all the time… well, not all the time, when I’m in school, but often. In school I also get to make boards and floor plans. I’m lucky in that get to “make” a couple times a week.

So, what is something I want to make? Something I need to clear time for? Art. The space above our sofa has been empty for over a year now. Hubs and I just can’t find (and agree) on something to hang above the sofa. It’s either the wrong color, shape or price.

We’ve known for awhile that we want 3 similar pieces spaced evenly apart. We know it can’t be too busy or dark because this room is really poorly lit. We also know we’re going to have to make it ourselves… or at least that’s what we’ve discovered in our search for the perfect art. We need to take the time to get the canvas and other supplies and create these pieces.

* Don’t get me started on the vulture hanging out on-top of my grandmother’s china cabinet. He went up there one Halloween and the Hubs has refused to part with him since. He thinks it’s funny… I don’t :-P

Omg, I can't stop laughing over the random vulture in your living room. I think it's funny too but I sure as heck wouldn't if it were in my living room!

@Becs - Thanks haha :) I try to ignore him because it makes Hubs happy. I can't wait to move!

Ha.. vulture... and you have a turtle that it's going after. I use to have a turtle in my apartment in college. The year isn't over yet, you could totally make these art pieces before the year is over.

@Nellie - Which turtle are you seeing? There is one on the fireplace and one on the coffee table. I've been obsess with turtles since Jr High so they are all over our apt. Hubs humors my turtle obsession so I guess I can deal with one vulture ;-)
You're right, we should be able to finish these by the end of the year. I think that is our goal :)

i like your living room. it would be cool if the 3 similar pieces matched the awesome b/w print chair you have. also love the turtles throughout the room :) they're my favorite animal.

@Ali, lol! I didn't see the turtle on the table. I only saw the one by the fireplace. Too awesome for words. Could you do a post sometime about the the places they show up in your place? ;)

OK, first of all, the vulture made me crack up before I ever saw your footnote! I was like, is that what I think it is? Anyway, we've had a similar challenge in our house: bare walls. We ordered a canvas print from our wedding through ChicCanvas and it arrived today... so it's a start!

Can't wait to see what you and J decide on!

I'm glad you specified that it was a vulture. At first I thought it was like a kiwi - either way, very random!

Three large canvases would look great above the couch. Can't wait to see what you come up with! :)

I think the art is a great idea! I have canvases sitting in the apt that I need to do something with as well... we can motivate each other :) Also, the vulture makes me smile :)

Can't wait to see the finished product.
