Blog Happenings: Recipe Picture Placement

Recently I did poll on Twitter regarding picture placement on recipe posts.

Everyone who answered said the same thing - Before.

I had a feeling this would be everyone's choice because I found myself drawn to the post in my Reader that lead with a picture. Anyway, this is just me saying I'm going to try to lead with the food picture in my recipe posts from now on.

I'm also trying to get better at my pictures, but let's be honest I BLOW at taking pictures of my food. Any suggestions? I use Macro or the little flower setting... I've tried a bunch of different settings to get the best picture. New camera? New camera operator?

I have no tips for you, my camera has a "Cuisine" setting that always seems to work so I leave it at that. I'm definitely no photographer.

lots of lighting. open the shades and turn on all the lights, the more the better. and I think you're on track with the macro/flower setting.

Thanks for the suggestions ladies! I need to figure out how to turn the flash off on my camera and I have a bunch of left over white cardboard from school projects, so I think I'm going to try to build a box(ish) thing :)
